A passive backplane connection board connects a "Main Processor" Module to various Input/Output modules, via a high speed bus. All boards plug into this backplane, and are supported by a heavy-duty aluminum chassis/enclosure. Standard versions accept up to either five (5) or nine (9) modules.
RTUs are normally shipped from the factory, with the appropriate modules installed for a given application. However, modules may be changed in the field, if required.
Field wiring is terminated to screw clamping type removable terminal strips which will accept up to #14 AWG wire.
The RTU3200 takes advantage of the recent availability of low power, high-performance 32 bit processors, which are used on each module. Power consumption on this RTU is very low, to maximize back-up battery life, and eliminate heat.
The standard RTU3200 communications module supports DNP 3.0, Modbus, and PG&E protocols, with the slave version of each of these protocols active at any time (unless disabled). The low level firmware is able to recognize the protocol of a message received, and route the message to the proper protocol processing function.
The RTU3200 also supports a DNP master, for communications to additional RTUs.
· PDC - Main processor with DC power supply, two RS232, one RS485, and one Ethernet.
· S16 - 16 status inputs. 1 mS scan rate, and programmable debounce.
· R8 - 8 form C relay outputs with 10 amp contacts and self-diagnostic features.
· 12ACVI – AC analog input module, with direct connection to up to 160V and 10 amp sources.
· 12ACVC – Functionally identical to the ACVI, but all analog inputs are physically, high-impedance voltage inputs.
